Omari Wyands is a sophomore mass media and arts major from with a concentration in radio, tv, and film from Queens, New York. While his New York roots have shaped a lot, he explained that it was moving to Atlanta and going to Clark that really brought out the best of his creative side. He stated, “I got my inspiration from my peers, the people in Atlanta and the people I connected with.”
He explained that the lockdown from Covid-19 actually helped his creative side because “being locked down in my house everyday for hours I just thought to myself.” As a result published an online magazine titled UNTLD which highlights and promotes creatives. The magazine thought came from a podcast he started called “The O Show” which was a platform that he promoted creatives on after realizing that he was surrounded by so many talented people.
After coming up with a full concept for the magazine he seeked out AUC students who were interested in writing, graphic design and photography. It truly is a perfect representation of their slogan, “for creatives by creatives.” The first volume dropped in September of 2020 and has flourished to two other volumes since then. The magazine covers everything from artists and entrepreneurs to trend setters. He has hopes to grow the magazine and to make it a long term project that will continue to follow creatives through their journey.
UNTLD now has merch to help fund the magazine, which can be found at untldmagazine.com. Make sure to follow them on Instagram as well @untld.mag.
