As we matriculate through the New Year, we are greeted with vast and exciting sporting events. It seems as if the sports world is bringing us something new each month.
January brought us the NCAA Football Championship, in which the Georgia Bulldogs steamrolled the Alabama Crimson Tide. February brought us arguably the most sought-after sporting event, the Super Bowl, where the LA Rams topped the Cincinnati Bengals. Now, what will the month of March bring us, you ask? March is upon us, and it is time to start the 2022 NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Championship Tournament.
The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, better known as the "March Madness" tournament, is one of the most viewed sporting events every year. During March Madness, NCAA officials put 64 of the most qualified college hoop teams into one bracket and let those teams battle it out to be crowned the champion. The tournament comprises four sub brackets of each division: the West, South, East, and Midwest. Each sub bracket consists of 1-16 seeds. This year's one seeds are Gonzaga, Arizona, Baylor, and Kansas, but just because you are one seed does not mean you are a shoo-in for the Final Four. Every year there are always teams.
