Even as the world is in dismay, Clark Atlanta University students are still finding a way to share charity and service with others.
Achieve M.O.O.R.E. is a community ascension based organization focusing on empowering others through community service and charity. The organization offers a handful of scholastic and enriching opportunities.
Since being on CAU’s campus, Achieve M.O.O.R.E. has hosted events promoting entrepreneurship and healthcare. Annually, they host the AUC Carnival Pop-Up Shop, an event allowing student entrepreneurs to showcase their businesses. Alongside their campus work, the community visits local nursing homes and nearby Boys and Girls Club locations.
Since being virtual, the organization has worked religiously to continue their charitable work. Using their Corona Relief Fund, the organization donated $1,000 and school supplies to children in need. During the holiday season, the organization was able to provide support and meals for two families in need. The organization is currently working to create two events for the spring semester, both within the COVID-19 guidelines.
The acronym M.O.O.R.E. stands for modest, open-minded, optimistic, resilient and exemplary. “The goal is not only to succeed, but as you succeed bring others with you. It is one thing to achieve, but one should strive to Achieve M.O.O.R.E.,” is the mission statement the organization prides itself on.
Achieve M.O.O.R.E. was founded July 19, 2017 by Morehouse College graduate Kareem Moore. “Along with providing me with my first E-Board position, Achieve M.O.O.R.E. helped me improve in public speaking, professional etiquette, and leadership. Also, I was able to gain an amazing group of friends, who are now more like family,” President Kiera Moore said.
Achieve M.O.O.R.E. is open to students of all majors and classifications. The organization has chapters at Morehouse College and Spelman College as well. The executive board members are as followed; Kieara Moore (President), Jessica Jackson (Vice President), Kyra Roussel (Administrative Assistant), Alea Sewell (Treasurer), Erika Frayson (Program Director), Elisha Azizie (Volunteer Services & Public Relations), Jeramie Tate/Kayla Murray (Member Service Directors), Trey Byrd (Morehouse College), Brand Director and Ashlee Hopkins (Social Media Ambassador).
In the future, the organization hopes to further its community service reach, while impacting students at CAU and in the Atlanta University Center.
