1. Can you state your name and the department that you graduated from.
My name is Paige Tailyn Johnson and I graduated from the Mass Media Arts Department.
2. You graduated during a global pandemic. How did that impact your transition out of CAU? How did it impact you mentally?
I accepted a job offer to teach English in Shanghai, China but unfortunately, COVID-19 hit the U.S. I was really looking forward to this opportunity and when I lost it, I hit a really dark place. After a rough time coming to terms with the idea of losing a job opportunity, I began my job search.
3. How has life after CAU been? Are you in graduate school? Are you working?
Although my circumstances have not been favorable, I’m glad that I’ve had the opportunity to grow. I had the opportunity to develop my brand, Blossom Effect, LLC. I’m also in graduate school at Liberty University studying to earn my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy.
4. Looking back at your time on the campus of CAU, would you do anything differently? Why or Why not?
I wouldn’t change a thing. CAU was one of the best decisions I’ve made. CAU helped me develop as a black woman, and I couldn’t be prouder that CAU is my alma mater.
5. What advice would you give to:
a) incoming freshman: Please live in the moment and take time to breathe. Connect with your classmates because those relationships will last beyond your college career!
b) graduating seniors: As you prepare to embark on a new journey of life after college, please know that things are very different! Take time to breathe and celebrate your small victories.
